The fairgrounds are used to host many events throughout the year, but the most popular is the Appalachian Fair. We try to go to the fair every year, but it's so expensive some years we cannot afford it. That's my biggest complaint, the prices for the fair are EXPENSIVE. It costs our family of 7 a total of $50.00 just to park our car and walk through the gates! That's not buying any ride tickets, not playing any games, not eating any food...just to get out of the vehicle and walk inside!! A bottle of generic water costed me 3.00!! The fair is always a blast for the kids, but I wish it didn't cost an arm and a leg to go. My husband and I don't buy any tickets or do anything fun ourselves so the kids can. We just watch in the hot August sun, wishing we could afford another one of those 3.00 bottles of generic water.....
Had a great time there Aug 23 2017. I entered into the outlaw diesel drag and gained free admittance and was able to park on the grounds. The rides were alot of fun, the place seemed pretty secure and my Wife and kids all had a real good time!
I went because of the gunshow. Save your time and money. Everyone feels their product is superior and over prices everything.
I look forward to the Appalachian Fair each year.... For me it brings a piece of my childhood back to life.
Mediocre as far as fairs I've been to in the past. No major thrill type rides. It seemed more like a carnival to me. However, there was a great concert here, which originally brought me here. Clint Black had a fantastic performance in the outdoor venue, and the sound was very good.
